Local Montreal Record Label Kohlenstoff Records is all about the risk taking. On her new work Deadline, Émilie Payeur has completely internalized that notion. Beginning with a piece that borders on the radio static, Payeur takes the piece through an extremely wide variety of sound never ceasing to entertain and surprise. Deadline (http://kohlenstoff.ca/track/deadline) is a perfect overview of the album whereas Hotline (http://kohlenstoff.ca/track/hotline) manages to completely numb the listener to its hypnotic drones before Kissing Hitler (http://kohlenstoff.ca/track/kissing-hitler) scares you to the core with the mysterious way it operates.
